[NSFW] Public Facebook Status Updates Searchable

We all know about Facebooks privacy issues [if not then check it out on Uberbusy.com], well TechCrunch reported today that there’s an app called FacebookSearch, which basically searches public status updates.

I decided to do a few searches of my own, this probably goes to show my twisted brain, but I was curious, I found a lot of racism.

Why do this?

This is a simple example of just how open facebook has made your information. This data is wide open, and this is one of the least scary uses that anyone will make. If nothing changes, it’s only to get worse.

There’s an interesting discussion over at Hacker News on the morality of what we’re doing. Feedback very welcome.
